Free SEO Audit by Dr IT SEO Services

Free SEO Audit for Local Businesses

A free SEO audit is a founder-led review of why a local business is not being found in search, covering the website, the Google Business Profile and the rankings the business currently holds. Dr IT SEO Services, a digital marketing agency founded in 2010 and based at 415 Court Oak Road in Harborne, Birmingham, delivers it as a written set of findings with the problems ranked in the order they cost you money. Vlad Tabaranu reviews your site and profile and sends you the findings, whether or not you engage us afterwards.

  • Audit requests sent before 12:00 Monday to Friday receive a reply the same day. Requests arriving after 12:00, at a weekend, or on a UK public holiday receive a reply on the next working day.

What the Free SEO Audit Covers

The free audit answers one question: where does your visibility problem actually start? It inspects your website, your Google Business Profile and your current rankings, and it tells you whether the priority is technical, local, content or website work.

That is a different job from the full audit. The full audit inspects every surface in detail and produces the complete ranked findings described below. The free audit tells you which surface is costing you enquiries, so you can decide whether the detailed work is worth commissioning at all – from us or from anyone else.

What Gets Inspected

Google Business Profile

Primary and secondary categories against the jobs you actually want, service list completeness, service-area definition, photograph currency, opening hours, and review volume and response rate. Category selection alone routinely decides whether a business appears for its main service.

Website technical condition

Whether pages are crawlable and indexed, how the site performs on a mobile connection, whether each page has one H1, whether internal links reach every service page, and whether your schema markup describes the same business a visitor sees on the page. An unindexed page cannot rank, and it cannot support an AI answer either.

Content and coverage

Whether each service you sell has a page of its own, whether those pages name the work specifically enough to rank for it, and whether the areas you cover are represented by substantive pages rather than thin duplicates of one another.

Rankings and the competitors who hold them

Where you currently rank for the jobs you want, which businesses hold those positions instead, and what those competitors have that you do not. A ranking report on its own tells you that you are losing. Naming who is winning and why tells you what to change.

AI search visibility

Whether AI assistants and can read your site, whether they describe your business correctly when asked, and whether the facts they repeat about you match the facts you publish. This is a separate surface from the ten blue links, it is increasingly where the answer is formed, and most audits still do not look at it. The same applies to voice search, which reads from the same profile and listing data rather than from your homepage.

Summaries written by Google’s AI that appear above some search results, with links to the pages they draw on.

Listings beyond Google

Google is not the only index that describes your business. Your Bing Places listing feeds Microsoft’s results and, increasingly, the assistants built on them. feeds Apple Maps, which is what every iPhone opens by default when someone taps an address. Both are checked. A business that is correct on Google and wrong on Apple Maps is wrong for a large share of the people trying to reach it.

Apple’s free tool for managing how a business appears in Apple Maps and other Apple apps.

External corroboration

NAP consistency – your name, address and phone number matching across every directory that lists you – plus conflicting or duplicate listings, and whether the registrations and accreditations you hold are published somewhere they can actually be checked. A phone number that disagrees with itself across three directories is a ranking problem and a trust problem at the same time.

The links pointing at you

Which sites link to you, whether those links are worth having, and whether anything looks harmful. This is a review, not a sales pitch for link building: we will tell you what is there and what it is worth. What we will not do is sell you volume, and the reasons are in the exclusions below.

The Output Is a Ranked List, Not a Score

Search for a free SEO audit and almost everything you are offered is a scanner. You paste in a URL, it returns a percentage and a hundred colour-coded warnings, and most of them change nothing. That output looks thorough and is close to unusable, because a scanner cannot distinguish a broken canonical tag from a missing alt attribute. It has no idea which of your services actually earns you money.

Our findings are ranked by what each one costs you. A wrong primary category that keeps you out of the map pack sits above a slow-loading image, because one costs enquiries and the other costs milliseconds. That ordering is a judgement about your business, and it is the part a tool cannot do.

You receive the findings in priority order, the reason each one matters, what fixing it involves, and whether it is something you can do yourself. Some clients take the document and act on it alone. That is a legitimate outcome, and the audit is written to support it.

What We Can and Cannot Show You

Case studies on the results page cover accident repair, e-commerce, vape retail, medical aesthetics and property maintenance. Most of those clients are named, so you can look the business up and confirm it exists rather than taking a logo on trust. One is described without its name, because that permission is still being confirmed, and saying so is better than quietly presenting it as anonymous by choice.

Each entry states what was measured, over what period, and where the figure came from. Where we do not hold a measured figure, we say so rather than implying an outcome we cannot show.

An agency quoting a percentage without naming the client, the period and the baseline is quoting a number you cannot check. Ask any agency, including this one, for all three.

The Audit Is Also Your Baseline

The audit records where you start: current rankings, current profile configuration, current traffic. Without that record, no later claim of improvement can be checked, including ours.

This is why every engagement begins here. A result you cannot compare against a baseline is not a result, and an agency that skips the baseline has removed the only way you could hold it to account.

What Happens After You Ask for It

The free audit is delivered within five working days of your request, and the audit call takes about twenty minutes. The plan follows within five working days of that call, with scope and price confirmed in writing before any work begins. Work starts within five working days of written approval, and each monthly report arrives within five working days of the month end. That is about three weeks from first enquiry to work starting.

You are not committed to any of it. The findings are yours from the first step, whatever you decide to do next.

What the Audit Does Not Include

The audit is a diagnosis, not the treatment. It tells you what to do; it does not do it.

It also excludes anything that depends on your own trade competence, which is your expertise rather than ours. We inspect what search systems can see and what your published records say. We do not assess the quality of your workmanship, and we do not describe a qualification or registration you have not confirmed to us.

It does not include a guaranteed ranking. SEO results depend on the market, the level of competition, the starting position of the site and the budget, so we do not guarantee any specific position on any search engine. What the audit does instead is set a realistic expectation, early, while it still costs you nothing to walk away.

No private blog networks, no bulk link building, no second Google Business Profile, and no directory spam. If a tactic would embarrass you in a Google support thread, it is not used.

How Often Should You Audit?

Once a year is enough for a stable business in a stable market. Bring it forward when something has changed: a website rebuild or migration, a move or a new service area, a change of business name or phone number, a merger, or a sudden drop in calls you cannot explain.

The two events that most often justify an unscheduled audit are a site migration, because redirects and indexing break quietly, and a profile edit made by someone outside the business, because Google lets third parties suggest changes without telling you.

If You Cover More Than One Town

A business covering six towns is competing six times. Proximity is a ranking factor in local results, so ranking well in the town you are based in tells you very little about the town twenty minutes away. The audit checks each area you claim to cover separately, rather than reporting a single position and calling it coverage.

Audit Questions

Is the free audit the same as the full audit?

No. The free audit identifies where your visibility problem starts and whether the priority is technical, local, content or website work. The full audit inspects every surface in detail and produces the ranked, documented findings described above.

Do I have to use you for the fixes?

No. The document is written so that you can act on it, including with another supplier. We would rather you fixed the right problems than felt locked in.

How long does it take?

The free audit is delivered within five working days of your request. The full audit depends on site size and how many surfaces need inspecting, and Vlad gives you a date once he has seen the scope rather than quoting a standard turnaround that ignores it.

Will the audit tell me how long ranking takes?

It tells you what stands between you and ranking, and which of those things are quick. It cannot give you a date, because Google controls crawling, indexing and ranking. Any agency quoting a fixed timescale before it has seen your site is guessing.

Does the audit cover AI search as well as Google?

Yes. It checks whether AI assistants can read your site and whether what they say about your business matches what you publish. Getting the facts wrong in an AI answer is a visibility problem in its own right, and it is fixable.

What do you need from me to start?

Your website address and your business name are enough to begin. Read access to Google Search Console and to your profile makes the findings more precise, but the audit does not depend on being given either.
